GCVHOA EMERGENCY BOARD MEETING 1
Held August 10, 2003
(approved)
The emergency meeting was called to order by President Rhonda King at 7:00 P.M. After the pledge of allegiance, the Secretary took the roll call. Six (6) Board members were present including Chad Reid, Ken Spann, Ted Strass, Rhonda King, George Peck and John Groeneveld. Art McKeller was not present.
The board addressed current problems caused by the rising water in our community. These concerns included heavy trucks on our soft roads and the damage that they could cause. Dutch volunteered to check into UPS and FedEx deliveries and would accept deliveries of those what were in areas that could not be reached. Chad volunteered to talk to Seaside Sanitation to get dumpsters installed so the trash trucks would stay off the roads. A new resident, Valentine Stauder volunteered to talk to the post office and coordinate mail delivery to those in inaccessible locations. The possibility of the rising water cutting off our last remaining exit was also discussed as was the possibility of installing fill like the county did to raise the street level to keep our cars out of the water.
The following volunteered to act as Street captains: Dutch Sykes for Marionette, Ken Spann for Harley, Annette Stauder for Olivaud, Nadine Alford for Camille, Lou Karlin for Andre and Rhonda King for DeKoster. The captains are to notify property owners of important meetings and other emergency information.
Treasurer, John Groeneveld told us that the road reserve account held approximately $21,500 and the total of all reserve accounts was $50,200 as of last month. Dutch gave the board a list of Paving contractors that he had developed in research as to re-coating or repaving he had worked on before the flood. Best price for repaving all roads with 1" overlay was $60,000. (before existing damage to the roads)
The meeting was adjourned at 8:05

GCVHOA EMERGENCY BOARD MEETING 2
Held August 18, 2003
(approved)
The 2nd emergency meeting was called to order by President Rhonda King at 7:00 P.M. After the pledge of allegiance, the Secretary took the roll call. Six (6) Board members were present including Chad Reid, Ken Spann, Ted Strass, Rhonda King, George Peck and John Groeneveld. Art McKeller were not present.
Dutch gave a prayer for Don Piquet who has recently passed away. Rhonda explained she and John Groeneveld had taken photos of the landfill on Houston Ave and that they had 2 pumps pumping water toward our park. 4 board members had attended a meeting with Attorney Don Peyton and that is was very difficult to prove that water is coming from the landfill. He also said that it was very expensive to get a restraining order to prevent them from pumping.
The meeting was opened for questions and comments from those present.
The board voted to purchase stone for the entrance of the park to keep the cars from being swamped. Richard Cussick agreed to have the company he works for deliver and place the stone.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:05

GCVHOA EMERGENCY BOARD MEETING 3
Held 1:30 PM - August 27, 2003
( approved)
The Agenda meeting scheduled for this date was cancelled due to lack of a quorum as only 3 board members were present including Ted Strass, Rhonda King, and Chad Reid. At 1:30 the meeting was converted to an informational meeting to let everyone know what was going on with the flooding situation.
A Channel 8 news team also attended our meeting and taped part of the proceedings.
President Rhonda King read the press release that was sent to all local news organizations and delivered to all residents on Tuesday. The President told those present that the County has been and will continue to pump hundreds of thousand gallons of water daily to as many as 20 large ponds some as close as a ½ mile from Great Cypress. It may be causing a rise in the aquifer as not to permit ground water from sinking in and forcing it to run to lower areas. (like our lake, roads and homes)
David Gonzalez, the district engineer for WREC told us that they would probably be shutting down power to some of the homes in Great Cypress due to the danger of shock from the transformers that are in the flood area.
Rhonda fielded questions and comments until 2:30 when we ended the meeting and asked anyone present to go to the county building to attend a meeting with Senator Bill Nelson at the county building. Many property owners attended the meeting. Rhonda presented our case to him masterfully and he agreed to come see the devastation. He did tour our park and agreed to help us.
At 4:00 power was shut off to 47 homes around the perimeter of the park forcing many to evacuate or go to extreme measures to stay in their homes.
